The DTA500 aerial from August, the portable Freeview specialists, is an amplified aerial designed specifically for digital reception. With a standard coaxial connection, it can be easily used with almost any portable or living room television set.

With a USB powered amplifier, it is ideal for USB Freeview Tuners, like the August DVB-T202, as you can simply plug it into a spare USB port to benefit from amplified reception without having to find a plug socket. This also makes it great for portable TVs and multimedia players with USB ports giving you optimal reception when you are on the go.

Plus, it can be used with a powered antenna socket as well, which makes it optimal for any modern TV or freeview box: No power or USB socket needed anymore!

Alternatively for bedroom, kitchen and living room sets, the August UMC500 (sold separately) USB plug adaptor can be used when a USB port is not available.

Capable of receiving frequencies of VHF 87.5-230MHz and UHF 470-862MHz it is ideal for both DVB-T and DAB broadcasting as well as Analogue TV and FM radio.

Whether you are looking for an aerial for your bedroom, kitchen, caravan, boat or car, the DTA500 will greatly improve your reception in almost any circumstance.

Please Note: Freeview reception is dependent upon environmental factors, we cannot guarantee reception in all conditions. We do offer a 30 day money back guarantee on all new items in order for you to test the suitability in your area.

New product supplied retail packaged with 12 month warranty.

Really boosts your signal Review by Todd A. Levy

Television as we know it has been changing over the years. Many years ago all we used was an antenna to get the local & basic channels which is all we could get. After that we had Cable and then Satelite. As it continues to grow and change we now have streaming services and on demand. The more we get the more it cost. I have wanted to go back to a TV antenna and one of the streaming services only. The next step is to find the right antenna. August offers a variety of TV Antenna's to look at. Each one has its own benefits. I have looked at 4 models, but they offer many more than that so make sure you pick one that suits all your needs. I will use one review for all 4 models so that it is easier to see the differences. DTA #280: Portable Works well both indoors & outdoors Reception: Digital, Analog & FM Connection:Standard Coaxial Cable Telescopic Antenna LTE Filter-removes interference caused with 4G transmission DTA #305: Portable with Signal Booster Recommended indoors only Reception: Amplified Digital Connection: Standard Coaxial Cable Telescopic Antenna DTA #310: Reception: Amplified Digital Recommended indoors Flat style (sleek & stylish) Designed to hang on wall Low Noise Amplifier DTA #500: Portable with Signal Booster Reception: Amplified Digital Works both Indoor & Outdoors Can mount on wall or use with stand This is just some of the basics. I have been trying them all in different rooms in my house and with different television types to see which works best where. They all work well. I especially like being able to bring a TV outdoors by my pool. I obtained these antennas at a large discount for the purpose of testing and providing my unbiased opinion. (Posted on 27/07/2015)
Picked Up A Mind-Blowing 150 Channels! Review by PA to LA

I cut cable over 2 years ago and have been using an OAA that I purchased on Amazon so I was able to test this one compared to the one I already have. There are pluses and minuses with this antenna, but the pluses far out weigh the minuses: Pros: 1) It worked for me - locating 150 channels! My other antenna only gives 80 channels. Now, realistically we will only use about 8 of those channels but the point is it worked splendidly. We are in a large metro area. 2) It looks nice sitting next to a Panasonic TV. They both have sleek look. (See attached photo) Cons: 1) The directions are HORRIBLE. The included products are pictured on one page, but itemized on another page. The directions for mounting the antenna outside is woefully unhelpful. 2) Customer service is lacking for US based customers. There are 2 options to reach customer service a) dial an international number b) email customer service. I find both options unacceptable when you are in the midst of needing immediate help. I set this up by simply plugging the unit into the TV. I see there is a way to get a boost by using a USB, but again we are only going to watch about 8 channels and all of those are coming in just fine with zero pixelation. If it were not for the poor directions and customer service options this would have been a 5 star review. August provided this sample for testing and review with no guarantee of a favorable review. August DTA500 Antenna Review by Denny Crane, Esq.

I am not certain what is a fair rating. I gave it 4 stars because of its limitations. It may deserve 5. It is well made, and should work for those with adequate signal levels. I deducted one star only because I could not receive a signal using the DTA500 and a computer with a WinTV 1250. To be fair, I am located mid-way between Los Angeles and San Diego, so my location receives a rather weak signal from both locations. To put this in perspective, I also tried an Antenna Pros Spectrum SP-09 outdoor antenna inside my second floor home office, and WinTV still indicated “No Signal.” The same Antenna Pros antenna worked fine when I lived in the foothills around Los Angeles. According to the FCC, signals from San Diego are -49dB or worse; signals from Los Angeles are -65dB to -80dB and worse. (We are dealing in negative numbers, so a higher negative number is a weaker signal). A more specialized search, based on my address, indicated that at my address, I could not receive an adequate signal without a large, multi-element rooftop antenna, with an amplifier and roof mounting. If you are in the United States, here is the web site at which you can find out signal strength in your area for all the stations available. Simply enter your zip code in the upper right hand corner. [...] A more specific guide based upon your address can be obtained at [...] The DTA500 antenna might be an excellent low cost solution for someone with a stronger signal, say -25db or better. (Again, less negative is a stronger signal). Check the web sites above. Consider how far you are from the transmitters, and whether your antenna can “see” the transmitters. If there is a large building close by, and it is between you and the towers, you may be out of luck. On the other hand, if you live out in Bumfart, and the only radio reception you get is Wolfman Jack out of Mexico, this is not for you. Think “rabbit ears.” If you were able to get a decent analog signal using rabbit ears, you should be able to get a better picture with the August DTA500 and a digital signal. This assumes that your TV can receive a digital signal. (I suspect that the very negative reviews are either (a) people trying to receive a digital signal with an analog tuner or vice versa,or (b) people in fringe reception areas, who need an outdoor antenna). cable-free at last. This amplified digital TV antenna picks up stations that I never knew existed. The reception is superb, much more so than Time Warner provides. I would recommend it to anyone who wants clear, digital, and FREE television. (Posted on 19/08/2013)

For around ten bucks, I assumed I would get a piece of junk like WalMart pushes. What a surprise! This is so beautifully engineered, and well designed I'm still marveling. It even has a couple of "bells and whistles" if you want to mount it on a wall, or outside. We're about forty miles from all of the Ft Myers stations, and the picture and reception are impressive. It is so nice, every now and then, to come across a product that is just so superior to the competition, and at such a low price. (Posted on 02/08/2013)
Great antenna --- Great design with a great price! Review by Haowell

This is a GREAT antenna with a great design. I love it! Ever since I had bought an Expresscard HDTV tuner for my laptop 4 years ago, I had been dreaming for an antenna with USB-powered amplifier for years. Upon my last attempt of searching on Amazon.com, I am very happy to come across a couple of antennae with USB signal booster. I especially enjoy the design of a detachable micro-USB powered signal booster in this August DTA500 antenna and the included wall-mounting kit: With the signal booster, I can watch over 80 channels in my area (while less than 50 channels can be displayed properly without the mini signal booster). And I managed to mount the antenna on the back of my TV with the included mounting kit. It works perfect! Amazon is the best online retailer! At first I chose the August DTA225W antenna with USB amplifier. But it was DOA and Amazon immediately issued a return shipping label and a refund even before they received the returned product. I love Amazon.com --- Amazon not only has almost all the items I need, but also has the best customer service ever! However, there are 2 things that this product can be even better: 1) To make the wall-mounting kit VESA compatible; 2) To include a USB splitter, since most TVs only have 1 USB port. In my case, I need to use the TV with USB flash drive to play music and pictures as an alarm clock. So I just bought a small USB hub at a local electronics store to make both USB devices work together. Nevertheless, this DTA500 antenna still deserves 5 stars, as it does a great job. A great power antenna! (Posted on 18/04/2013)
