Way worse than I expected Review by Pataha

Junk. I thought I had researched this item enough to be satisfied. This worked for a little while and now it won't transfer the sound through the car's speakers. It did when I bought it. I received it March 14 and the product worked for about 3 weeks. Then it quit. I am really disappointed because I used my last one (DLO) for a couple years with no problems and it was used when I got it. I am open for suggestions on a transmitter that works. Bottom line from me? Don't buy this item. It wasn't expensive but so what? It should have worked longer than 3 weeks. Junk. (Posted on 20/04/2014)

Pros: + at ~$20, this transmitter works as well as the more expensive transmitters + highly recommended for iPods; it charges as it plays! + remote control is useful for those sitting in the back seat + great design in terms of mp3 holder; held sturdy and in place Cons: - battery not included for remote - static at times (but it's expected) - bad design in that it can get in the way of stick shift If you're looking for a budget transmitter, this is the one to go for. Works well for me Review by Julia San Diego

This has somewhat of a cheap feel to it, but is working really well for me as a charger and FM transmitter. I use it with both my older version iPod and iPhone 4. The cigarette lighter attachment has rubber gaskets to keep it from flopping around, and it's really handy to keep my phone visible for map directions. I haven't had any trouble getting a clear signal for the FM transmitter part (in San Diego), and it holds the station open even when the ipod isn't connected. For it to work with the ipod, you have to use the headphone connector that comes with it (plug one end into the unit and one end into the headphone jack on your ipod). It's really nice to have a unit that charges and plays at the same time, especially for road trips. (Posted on 02/02/2014)
It works, not great, but in a pinch, it works. Review by R. Foster

It works as advertised, and actually charges quicker than I thought it would. The problems... No matter what frequency I try, there is always static in the background. It's not from fm stations that are too close, there are not many stations around, so there large gaps, and empty frequencies. It's just always there. There also isn't much volume, I have to turn up the radio to almost full blast to get a decent volume, then if I turn to a regular fm station, it about blows the speakers. (Posted on 05/01/2014)

Great concept. Poor execution. It was easy to set up and it held my iPhone nicely for easy access. However the power isolation is totally unacceptable - the audio through my car radio was accompanied by a loud whine, which would increase in pitch with the speed of the engine. The result was unlistenable. (Posted on 30/10/2013)

Wonderful product that does exactly what it says. Easy to tune to a station (I live in a rural area with not many stations, so of course that makes it easier.) The gooseneck would be great if not for the design of my car that only allows it to lay on its side, resting against my emergency brake handle. Again, not a result of the product itself, but the design and current condition of my vehicle and the power outlet. Couple downsides, the remote does not work for me, but the iPod is within an easy reach that I don't necessarily need it. And there is a high pitched whirring sound that seems to coincide with having my blower system on. Changed stations to see if that remedies it, but no luck. After awhile I get used to the sound, so it's not overly noticeable. (Posted on 15/12/2012)

This product is just what I have been looking for. I had a previous transmitter, that I think I had paid more money for, but this one is definitely better quality. It secures both my iphone 4s and nano well with adjustable grips on the sides. It also fits nicely in the outlet of my Santa Fe. The quality of the transmission is what can be expected, not crystal clear, but still really good. I haven't tried to use the remote, it looks like basically a piece of cardboard with a sticker on it, not sure it could do anything at all, but not the reason I bought this item. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. (Posted on 20/10/2012)
A little flimsy, but works Review by Amazon Customer

I drive an old Buick with a stereo system that only does AM/FM radio and casettes, so pretty much the only way to play music was to use those little oval-shaped FM transmitters attached to my ipod. They ate batteries like they were on fire, and you had no way to know when they were going to die, and they didn't just die - they had a slow, agonizing death where static would just build louder and louder over the course of a few days. That's if the thing wasn't already full of static because you weren't touching it. So I switched the the casette player emulator type of mp3-to-car-stereo connectors. They were great! Except that I would have to replace them every few months because my tape player would eat them. And then it ate one too many, and would never play them again. So I decided to take a bet on an oversized $13 MP3 transmitter from here, and I'm loving it! Pro's: *This is the clearest transmission I've ever had. I was able to use the full range of my speakers without static drowning out the music. *The rubber seal around the cigarette-lighter part gives it a snug fit. I was able to bend it without it flopping around, it stayed pretty steady. *On a buick LeSabre, it fits PERFECTLY. The cigarette lighter is underneath the car stereo and when you plug it in, it sits your ipod right where the stereo would be. Changing songs involves pressing the same area you would press to change songs on a CD. It feels super natural. *Not only does it not use batteries, but it's got an iPod charger cable built in, so it charges the iPod while you drive. *It's $13. That's almost $12 less than what I'd normally pay for a transmitter, even a transmitter that'd wear out after a few months. Con's: *The iPod charger cable is pretty flimsy. It came apart into two pieces on the second use, and I had to hot glue it to keep it from separating any time I plugged it into my iPod. I now know what an iPod charger looks like on the inside, though. *The remote control changed transmitter frequences, but the play/pause, forward, and back buttons did not work on my iPod, and there's no obvious way to get in touch with their support. *How well you can use it really depends on where your cigarette lighters are. I tried it in a friends truck and the location of the cigarette lighter made it almost impossible to fit. (Posted on 30/03/2012)

I went back and forth between FM transmitters and Cassette inserts for playing my Ipod Nano 5g in my car. After reading many reviews I was more then skeptical that any FM transmitter would work without issues, but I decided to give this one a try since compared to many others it was really inexpensive. I can only tell you that I am nothing but pleasantly surprised. I plugged it into the DC outlet, tuned my radio to the default frequency and the music was loud and clear. I tried all the available frequency choices and they all worked equally as well. I drove around town and there was never any static of any kind. I have not tried this on a trip yet..so maybe there will be some issues with changing frequencies, but it works great for what I bought it for. The only negative comment I will make is that is is a bit bulky, but the goose neck is sturdy and it does stay in place. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap way to play there Ipod in the car. Thanks Amazon! (Posted on 20/01/2012)
