Doesn't work with latest versions of OS X contrary to listing. Chinese manufacturer support email completely unresponsive. (Posted on 18/07/2015)
Works great with my Macbook Pro Review by C. David

Works great with my Macbook Pro. After years of using a cumbersome, clunky box that seemed selective about working, I upgraded to this tiny thing, and it's worked perfectly. It gets really hot, but aside from that, recording stuff from my old VCR was incredibly easy after a quick software installation. I've been able to transfer many hours of stuff off of home videos with great quality. While I'm not a stickler for crystal-clear video or audio, I can't find any real flaws with this. Very pleased! Work great on my MacBook Pro Review by crash3x

Read a whole bunch of reviews on many of theses in a wide prise range. Very happy with this product, works perfectly. The only thing I recommend is go straight to the website and download your specific driver there. Already converted a bunch of tapes and no issues at all. For me it was the right choice, very happy and I would recommend it to others. (Posted on 29/04/2015)
It will work on Windows 7, but not without fiddling. Review by Robert Cole "~"

It will work on Windows 7, but not without fiddling. The supplied driver will not work, period. I found a driver that works at mygica.com/html/Support/ (they are the manufacturer?) and I had to force a read of the driver from Computer Management/Device Driver. Windows threw a warning about the driver being unsigned by Microsoft, but it did work and the system is stable. The quality/passthrough is ok for basic consumer conversion, not good enough for professional work. The capture/conversion/editing software is relatively easy to use, but lacks common output formats...thus you may need an additional conversion software to fully realize the benefits. Can't get the damn software to work. I've loaded it three times and it won't recognize when it's connected to the VCR. Wrote an email to the manufacturer. No response. (Posted on 24/03/2015)

I cant understand how people can give a good review to this. The capture video quality is terrible. I am trying to get my VCR videos to digital and the quality of the image is WORSE than EZCAP, which is terrible. I will try something more expensive. (Posted on 26/02/2015)
I compare this August brand video capture to the Diamond brand. This one is better by a long shot. Review by M. Sullivan "Live Life"

This is a good video capture set up. I had no problem getting the driver installed on Windows 8.1. Just follow the instruction. I tried the Diamond Brand one sold on Amazon before this one and couldn't get it to install a driver on the same Windows 8.1. It did install on a Win XP but didn't recorded and the record light didn't come one. I returned that one and got this one. This is more expensive but works and is not a door stop. The video capture software on this one is better and easier to use. Both have old Arcsoft software. This one comes witrh ShowBiz and there are tutorials online. On my computer setup it only allowed me to capture in MPEG 2 which is a large but very detailed video file format. You maybe able to capture in other video formats but why except for compression. After captuing your video you can edit and save in other formats in ShowBiz and there is good number of choices. Tip: it is easier to start your video and recording at the spot in the video you would start at in an edited version. You can easily cut out anything in the beginning and end of a video during the capture. One thing the ShwoBIz software does not stop capturing automatically when the video stops. Unaware of any capture software that does. But you can look at how long the video runs if it is commercially produced and just come back before the video ends. The time is usually found on the cassette itself The documentation is better on this one than the Diamond brand video capture. (Posted on 05/02/2015)
This unit worked great for transferring VHS to CD/DVD Review by Jeff May

This unit worked great for transferring VHS to CD/DVD. You may want to know that it works in real time. So it plays the full length of whatever video you play. (Posted on 05/10/2014)

I can't give this 5 stars since I have no experience with other Video adaptors. But I used it to record the playback to 20 hours of video and it went without a hitch. I have recommended this to several friends who when told of my experience expressed strong interest in doing the same. The software worked great for capture. I have not tried using the editing software included. I know I will since there is little interest in watching any but the best footage. (Posted on 18/09/2014)
