Broke after 30 days but manufacturer stood by product! Review by Amazon Customer

I ordered this speaker in the beginning of October 2013 and it worked great the first 35 days, but then stopped working. Looking at the reviews I got concerned that other people had problems getting a replacement even though it had a one year warranty. Since I was just passed the 30 day return policy with Amazon I contacted August Int. directly. After a few days they told me to contact their reseller Daffodil US. I sent them a copy of the invoice from Amazon and explained the problem I was having with the speaker. After a few days they said they would replaced it, and I received the replacement yesterday. It did take two weeks to get the replacement but it should be noted that both Daffodil and August are in Europe so allowing for large time zone differences that overall replacement and professionalism was quite satisfactory. It isn't as good a quality as a $200 BT speaker, but for the price it works great as a BT speaker and microphone for my phone. I have even used it as a speaker phone for my business when our office phone system went out. (Posted on 23/11/2013)

I am very impressed with this little guy. This portable speaker is really loud and small. I love the color red on this speaker it makes it look amazing. The price is just right for the speaker. Pros: *The red looks very crisp. *Sound is amazing. It sounds awesome. *Long hours of listing to music. ( Up to five hours of playback with the volume at max) *Only takes 3 hours to charge *Nice grips on the bottom to keep it in place. Cons: *There's no traveling case. Overall: I think this is amazing portable speaker, the price is just right. The sound quality is impressive. I was provided a sample for a fair and honest review. (Posted on 03/10/2013)
Pleasing sound for the size, obnoxious flashing LED can't be turned off Review by M. Erb

The August MS425B portable bluetooth speaker is a small sized yet full-sounding speaker. It is easy to pair to from your smartphone, tablet or computer. It also will accept a Line-in signal using a 3.5mm input. The speaker includes a 3.5mm male to male aux in cable and a USB to microUSB charging cable. Controls include track selection buttons, play/pause, and a rotary volume control. On the bottom of the speaker is the on/off switch. There is also a microphone for hands-free and a microUSB port for charging the speaker. An LED indicates power, bluetooth status and charging status. Battery life is pretty good and you can get up to about 5 hours of play time depending on volume. One thing I really like is the rotary volume control instead of the more typical dual-function buttons that many of these types of speakers employ. Ont thing I really dislike is the extremely bright and obnoxious LED that flashes periodically as the speaker is playing. This cannot be disabled and in a dark room it is ridiculously bright. I covered mine with black electrical tape. The hands-free function works pretty well. Not the best sound in the world but certainly useable and handy to have. I was provided a sample for testing and review. If you have any questions, please leave me a comment and I'll answer it if I can. (Posted on 18/09/2013)
Everything you need in a compact, portable speaker. Review by JC "JC"

Needed something compact for the office desk and can attach to USB port. Haven't tried to use it as an alternative speaker phone, but that was just an added bonus. The sound is great for the price and size. If you're trying to compare to $5000 B&W speakers, you're clearly not thinking portability and price. (Posted on 28/07/2013)
Small in stature Great in Sound! Review by Hugh

I ordered this so I could listen to audiobooks (Audioble.com) and the Text to Speech function (Kindle) while I get ready to go to work in the morning. Since, it's hard to comb your hair and shower with a headset on. It came very quick (Practically next day). It linked up with my "Go BluesenseTRM" transmitter, used to bluetooth my Kindle text to speech, it linked with my Android Cellphone and it linked with my Google Nexus without any problems. It was even easier than trying to get my headests to sync. I haven't tried to make a phone call or use it while Skyping yet but I intend to. This little thing is more potent than it looks. Lots of sound. I can hear it over the shower, and I can hear it as I motor about the house ironing clothes and getting ready to go to work. I've played music on it and, once it is broken in (in accordance with the instructions) the sound is good enough for me. If your a real conesuer of music, you may find the single speaker a little flat but it's great for audiobook narrators and text to speech and I imagine it will be great for my Cellphone hand's free. It's solid construction, heavy and reassuring when you pick it up. Easy to carry with you and loud when you need it to be. I'm a fan so far. I give it 5 stars. (Posted on 07/03/2013)
Amazing Product Review by Nimajneb

Sound is rich for such a small unit. I was frankly amazed at how clear and vibrant Pandora was while being streamed through my iPhone 5. Does not sound tinny and cheap at all. The speakerphone function works as well. There some slight static but I can hear the caller (and vice versa) very clearly. I set this baby up in my office desk, where I stream music all day, and whenever my cell phone rings, it seamlessly goes into speakerphone mode. I recommend wholeheartedly...5 stars! UPDATE 3/20/13: Dropping product to 3 stars due to poor unidirectional microphone. The microphone has to be facing the speaker directly for the other caller to hear. Therefore if you use this unit with a group of people, you have to keep turning the mic to whoever is speaking in order to be heard. (Posted on 07/03/2013)
Suprising Volume and Quality Review by Amazon Customer

This is a great little unit for the size and the price. I recommend it for a number of reasons. TONE: It has remarkable tone quality, including a full and rich sound. When placed on the table or counter, you can feel the music through the table/counter top. Everyone I showed this to did a double-take, wondering how such a small unit could produce such rich tone. MIC: The mic on it works well. I used it as a speaker phone and it out-performed my Droid Razr Maxx both on my end and on the other end of the line. SIZE: It's size is remarkable -- a little more than a third the size of a soda-pop can. It weighs about as much as half a can of soda. ASTHETIC: It looks sharp. I have other remote speakers and they looked like something from Lost In Space. This looks clean and professional. BLUETOOTH: Bluetooth pairing with my Windows 7 maching and with my phone was seamless. The distance of 10 Meters seems accurate. Just be aware that radio waves have to deal with walls, so you're smart to keep it in the same room as the paired device. BATTERY: The battery life seems good. Although it was charged when it arrived, I charged it first and have been using it off and on for two days on its first charge. I should note that I received this for the purpose of giving the review, but my review is my honest assessment. RECOMMENDATION: I recommend this product without reservation. (Posted on 27/02/2013)
Wow! Review by Brighton

(Remember to "break-in" the speaker for 30 minutes on low volume) I'm not the kind of guy to write reviews on products, but this little guy works great! The August's size is about the same as a small cup of tea. Its sound fills the room up nicely. I would say it is four times the sound of the phone itself. Good highs and mid-level sounds, OK lows (which I expected for a small woofer). The Bluetooth range is about 25-30 feet in direct line of sight, which is great. Great for the shower or working outside or having a phone conversion with the built-in speaker phone. I don't think you can find a better made, easy to use wireless speaker and have such great sound for the money. (Posted on 26/02/2013)
Great inexpensive little speaker Review by Austin Haynes "Sinitron"

I'm pleasantly surprised on how well this speaker works. I synced it to my Atrix 2 without any problems and was able to stream music from it almost instantly. There is a warning on the product page that I would caution you to read and follow: "BREAKING IN PERIOD Please use this speaker at Low Volume for the first 30 minutes to calibrate its membrane and ensure optimum performance." The sound quality from the speaker is 3.5-4 out of 5, it's listenable, but it's not some high quality entertainment center. However, for the price it's very good. I've yet to test the call quality of this device by using it as a speaker phone, and honestly, I don't think I'd ever use it for that so I don't know if I'll be testing that feature at all. I'll update this review if so. -1* for me is that there is a volume control on the speaker, I'd much rather only control the volume of what I'm listening to from the device (cell phone/mp3 player volume) and not worry about a volume knob that I have manage manually as opposed to a Bluetooth device in my pocket. It's a stout little speaker, fairly heavy and has an aluminum casing as the shell. It has a slide resistant rubber ring around the bottom to help it from moving/vibrating around when resting on a dash/counter/table top. EDIT 3/6: I've been using this speaker pretty regularly lately while out working in my yard. It does great, sound has improved as it's gotten broken in. I've even dropped it from about 3-4 feet onto concrete and just some dings, I've also used it in the bathroom and it got pretty steamy, no issues with shorting out. My previous concern over the volume dial is negated, no issues with it at all, just turn it up to 11 and control how I want from my phone. With that said, I've changed my rating to 5 stars. The little speaker that could! Review by Jason

Ok, I just opened this one up and started playing with it today. Given how small it is I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I surprised. Let's start with the basics: the speaker is amazingly simple to set up. I really like products I can use out of the box, and I am not exaggerating when I say it went from the box to playing music in less than 2 minutes! Seriously. I turned it on and it immediately went into pairing mode. I opened bluetooth settings on my phone, searched, paired, and I was done. since this is my first bluetooth speaker I wasn't sure what to expect, so ease of setup was a nice surprise. Looking at the unit it's nice looking and feels solid (heavier than I expected). The silver finish is a nice touch and keeps it from looking like a toy. I tried it out with Pandora and was happy to see the skip, play, and pause buttons all worked perfectly. Since it has a built-in microphone I tested it as a speakerphone for my cell and it worked great. Sound quality was excellent on both sides of the conversation. So far so good. But it's a speaker and the most important thing is how it sounds when playing music, right? That was the best part. I remember taking it out of the box and thinking "this is going to sound like a tin can". The sound is actually pretty darned impressive. It's high quality and has some solid bass when you set it on a table. There's a noticeable change in the bass when you hold it in your hand vs. putting it on a table. About the only (minor) complaint I have is that it could be louder. Not worth losing a star, but something to think about if you're planning to use it in a large room. With my phone volume and the speaker volume maxed it was loud enough for my small living room, but in a larger area the sound might not cut it. Pros: Excellent sound quality. Easy setup. Works great as a speakerphone. Nice finish, feels well-made. Cons: Could be a bit louder All in all I'm very happy with this little guy. It's an impressive little speaker! (Posted on 25/02/2013)
