This time around we've got a channel rebrand!
And that's all. Very small update, but don't write it off yet! The new channel is actually kind of interesting.
Freeview Channel Relaunches June 2025
ITVBe - ITV Quiz
The sole change this month is the channel ITVBe has been rebranded to ITV Quiz.
ITVBe was a long-standing branch of ITV, up and running for 11 years! I imagine it's a staple for some readers, as ITVBe provided "reality and non-scripted shows" as per the ITV Director of Television Peter Fincham.
I know I certainly had friends obsessed with TOWIE (The Only Way is Essex for the uninitiated) back in the day, so I'm not surprised ITVBe took off and stayed live!
However, ITVBe has finally run out of steam. Competition from streaming is most likely, as reality and non-scripted content is most easily accessible online now. You can tune into any number of streamers from anywhere in the globe and literally see their reality in real time.
Meanwhile shows like Love Island and the rest are high-profile ordeals nowadays, with less "background" TV in between these major television events.
Not to mention, TOWIE is available on Prime as well as ITX so a traditional channel isn't filling a content void anymore.
So, what about the new channel?
The new channel is called ITV Quiz. Now, we have some fun here when channels are rebranded or new ones added, guessing what type of TV they'll show.
ITV Quiz wasn't a long round of "Guess the Genre" I can tell you.
According to the ITV website, the new channel will show "Lingo, Tipping Point, Wheel of Fortune, Tenable, Deal or No Deal and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" and other equally quizzical shows.
The runtime is set from 9am to 1am, so you really can get your quiz fix at almost all hours of the day.
It's certainly a change from ITVBe, with a complete pivot from reality content to quiz content, but on some level it makes sense. Most reality and non-scripted TV is accessed online, or even streamed live. Quiz shows, however, need a certain level of production value that broadcast TV has remained the home of the quiz show.
From now on, you can find ITV Quiz on Freeview Channel 28 on your EPG.
Remember to Retune
It might be a single channel, but do remember to retune! Not only will you get the latest channel from ITV, but you'll also recover any channels lost in the recent high-pressure warning just last week from Freeview.
With warmer weather only increasing through the week, now might be the best chance to scan before interference picks up.
