Frequently asked questions

What is HDMI Passthrough?

The VGB500 and VGB400 feature HDMI PAssthrough as it allows real-time watching of the recorded footage on a second HDMI output. This means one device plays the media, one device records it, and one device displays a raw passthrough (without being recorded). Why? By displaying a copy of the footage which hasn't been sent to be recorded you can see the footage in real time, lossless. This allows you to play games and stream them without input lag or seeing your own stream overlay, for example. The HDMI feed "passes through" the card without being interfered with!

What is a Capture Card?

A valid question! Don't be afraid to ask something that sounds obvious. A capture card is a device which records (captures) footage from one device to another. For example the VGB500 gaming capture card records HDMI inputs to your PC in real time, so you can stream the footage or just save it. On the other hand, the VGB350 records RCA VHS footage to your PC, so you can digtise VHS tapes. Both of these devices are capture cards.

How to Convert VHS to DVD?

Using a capture card which accepts the input of your VHS player, you can easily capture footage from VHS in real time. The dongle plugs into your VHS player and your computer, and the software on the computer digitises the footage. Once that is done, you can burn the files to a disc and create your very own DVD!
