Make the most of your reliable standard USB Ports by massively expanding their potential. USB has become synonymous with easy-to-use tech, and this multiport USB adapter hub helps even technophobes get all their devices connected, data transferred and presentations set up!
USB 3.0 vs USB 2.0 Ports
To begin, the hub features multiple standard USB ports. These are split between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0.
These are the ports you see on your laptop, PC, phone charging cables (Not the end that goes in the phone!) and more. The Type-A form is iconic and, as the name implies, pretty universal! (For those that don’t know, USB stands for Universal Serial Bus).
Type-A USB cables can carry data as well as charge.
Within Type-A there are 2 main specifications of USB port. These are USB Type-A 3.0 and USB Type-A 2.0. USB 3.0 is the most modern Type-A format and can be identified easily by the bright blue strip seen within the cable or port itself. A USB 2.0 will simply be black and silver, while a USB 3.0 will feature this blue strip.
If you are ever unsure, remember that USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. This means you can connect a USB 3.0 device to a USB 2.0 port and still have the device work, albeit potentially at a lower speed or efficiency. USB 3.0 can reach speeds of 5Gbps, which will not be matched when using backwards compatibility.
(For a full breakdown of USB 3.0 varieties, like USB 3.2, and their speeds check out the table here)
Using the fast speed of USB 3.0 you can connect external SSD’s or an external hard drive to access the storage directly from an SD card or USB port without having to keep switching adaptors or devices.
The HUB05 multiport adapter deliberately features both Type-A variants so you can stay connected no matter how old or new your USB devices are.
Thunderbolt USB-C Passthrough Port
USB-C is another classification of connection entirely to USB Type-A 2.0 and 3.0 connections. USB-C cables and ports are most commonly used to charge mobile phones, tablets, Chromebooks and the like. If you own a PlayStation 5 or Nintendo Switch, USB-C cables are used to connect the controllers of the PS5 and the charging dock of the Switch.
Type-C USB cables may be able to carry both data and charge, but some devices can only carry charge. This means data transfer (Photos / Videos from your phone over the cable to a PC for example) may not be possible with all USB-C Cables or adapters! Always check compatibility.
The HUB05 features USB-C compatibility among its multiple ports, and they have varied purposes.
Firstly, the HUB features a USB-C Power cable built in to the device which provides the power needed to operate the many adapters and card readers and converters the multiport hub features, as well as connect as a transfer cable. This cable is a Data cable.
Secondly, the HUB05 has a dedicated USB-C Charging port! This port cannot be used for data transfer, but does allow super-fast Thunderbolt charging for your USB-C devices like smartphones and tablets. This USB C port is not a data port.
USB-C to HDMI Adapter 4K Ready Port Hub
The HUB includes 4K Ready HDMI passthrough, provided you connect to a 4K output with a suitable HDMI cable. This can pass video data seamlessly across your devices, and create incredible multi-screen experiences from USB-C straight to HDMI.
By transferring data from USB to a device, and playing the media through a HDMI 2.1 4K cable, you can easily and quickly transfer and view footage taken with a GoPro or other camera. Converting USB-C to HDMI has never been so easy and allows you to display media from almost any device.
SD and Micro SD Card Reader Adapter
This multiport USB-C adaptor hub also features integrated card readers. The hub can read and transfer data directly from standard SD or micro-SD cards straight on to the connected PC or other device. This makes your data far more malleable and you can easily zip it from SD Card to PC to USB stick or even display it via the HDMI cable.
The choices are almost endless when it comes to where you want to move your data from the SD and Micro SD card readers. Add an SD card reader to your PC or tablet via this USB-C adaptor.
Wide OS Compatibility
This multiport hub works with Windows systems, Mac OS and Linux as well as Mobile Phones from Apple or Android. The wide compatibility combined with the number of ports makes the HUB05 a truly adaptable and versatile multiport hub for any office, workspace, travel bag or even your pocket!
