The DVB400 Set-Top-Box is a compact HD Freeview box with a sleek design that fits seamlessly into any room or caravan. August tech ensures it's simple to set up and use, with all necessary cables included. Offering full 1080p Freeview HD channels, PVR recording to USB, and live channel pause, this TV box lets you watch what you want when you want, so you'll never miss a program again.
To receive Free-to-Air Freeview channels, an existing rooftop or portable aerial is required. Simply plug your household aerial into the DVB400, and the box will instantly scan for available channels in your area. To enable recording, insert a USB 2.0 memory stick into the front USB slot, and you're ready to record your favourite shows.
Watch 1080p Freeview HD Channels
The August DVB400 Freeview Box Recorder allows you to enjoy a wide range of Freeview broadcasts without the need for a subscription to services like Sky or Virgin Media. With its HDMI output connection, you can watch both standard Freeview channels and stunning HD channels, offering access to popular stations like BBC1, BBC2, ITV, C4, C5, BBC News, and more.
This Freeview Receiver and Recorder is simple to set up and includes an HDMI cable as standard for instant connection to any modern TV. For older TVs, a SCART cable connection can also be used, ensuring compatibility across different setups.
7-Day EPG (Electronic Programme Guide)
With the EPG Feature, you can view and swiftly browse the television programmes for the next seven days on any particular channel, quickly setting up scheduled recordings or auto-change channels with programme schedules, so you never miss your favourite show. Your favourite channels can be stored and customised for your channel surfing and streamlining viewing.
Programme Recording to USB Stick
The August DVB400 box for TV recording features a Timeshift function, allowing you to pause and rewind live Freeview television. To use this feature and record shows, a USB memory stick is required, and a 32GB memory stick is included with the product, enabling you to start scheduling recordings immediately. By using removable USB storage, you can create a digital library of your favourite shows without worrying about running out of space—simply insert a new USB whenever needed.
With a USB plugged in, you can pause and rewind live TV with the Timeshift technology, or use the PVR system for live or scheduled recordings. The included USB stick is pre-formatted to NTFS, ensuring uninterrupted recordings. If you wish to use additional USB drives for recording, make sure they are also formatted to NTFS.
Multimedia Player Freeview Box
A built-in Multimedia player allows you to watch movies, view photos and listen to music from a USB Memory Stick for rewatching, or for giving a child a limited selection of tailored shows and movies in the car or bedroom.
You can watch these multimedia files regardless of TV reception to ensure you always have a backup of recordings and videos to watch.
Settings and Video Outputs
The August DVB400 Set-Top Box offers versatile display options, allowing you to set the aspect ratio to 16:9 Pan & Scan, 4:3 Full, 4:3 Letterbox, or 4:3 Pan & Scan. You can also adjust the resolution between 1080P, 1080i, 720p, and 576p, with the box automatically adapting to your television's settings. For video output, you can use the included HDMI cable to enjoy Freeview HD channels or opt for a SCART cable for older TV models, ensuring compatibility with almost any television.
Additionally, the DVB400 features a pin-controlled parental system, allowing you to censor channels and require an access code to view any blocked content, offering a customizable level of control over what can be accessed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Box says 'Boot', but nothing is on my TV screen?
Boot is the standard bootup message, and this is not a concern. Please check that the HDMI/SCART is fully inserted both in the box and your television, and check that the television is on the correct Source.
What USB stick is compatible?
Any USB 2.0 Memory Stick is compatible up to 1TB in size, we recommend this be formatted to NTFS, 32GB USB Sticks by August are available on our website.
Will not record to USB Memory Stick.
Our Freeview boxes generally prefer using NTFS over FAT32. To format your USB drive follow the following steps, from the menu, Scroll along to ‘Media Player’ at the far right. Scroll down and select ‘PVR Settings’ Select ‘Format’ and Switch from ‘FAT32’ to ‘NTFS’ You will be able to record from here on out.
*Please note, that formatting the stick will erase any data currently stored on it.
Can the DVB400 be used with older TV models that don't have HDMI?
Yes! The August DVB400 Freeview Set-Top Box includes both an HDMI output for modern TVs and a SCART connection for older models. You can use either option to connect it to your television, ensuring compatibility across different setups.

Shipping & Return
If you are not entirely satisfied with your product, you can return the item within 30 days of purchase. The item must be in its original packaging with all accessories. Once we have received the item, our engineers will inspect your returned item and your refund will be processed within 1 to 2 business days.
Please contact us before returning the item. We will attempt to resolve any issues you are experiencing and, if we are unable to do so, provide full return instructions. When returning an item, please download, complete and include the return form below inside your order. Failing to do so could lead to a delay in your refund. If you are unable to print the form you can fill out the information onto a blank piece of paper and include that instead.
In the event that the item is not containing all accessories or is poorly packaged and as a result returned damaged, we may be unable to issue a full refund. A customer service agent will explain this to you.
