Frequently asked questions

Why is the Mic Not Responding?

There are two main reasons a Mic might be not working:

1) Check Microphone Boost and Recording Volume options in your system, software, and output device.

2) Make sure you use a 3-ring AUX cable, not a 2-ring AUX cable! Only a stereo + Mic AUX cable will work, the adapter required is provided.

What is the "Pop Filter"?

The included Pop Filter for REC100 and MCP200 are circular protectors which are placed between the speaker and the microphone. They catch unwanted particulates and reduce unwanted articulation noises such as lip smacks and consonant "pops" in sensitive recordings.

What is "Polar Pattern"?

When looking at the studio microphones available you may see Polar Pattern used to descibe them. The Polar Pattern of a microphone is the "shape" it records around itself. For example a Cardioid polar pattern microphone will record mostly from directly infront of it, with very little from the sides, and a little from behind. This makes them perfect for directional, single-target recordings.

Conversely, an omnidirectional polar pattern is more suited for conference tables, group sessions etc as it records equally all around the microphone.
