Frequently asked questions

Can you get battery powered TV's?

The DA100 TV is an example of a battery-powered TV which has space for external batteries to be inserted, allowing you indefinite use so long as you provide batteries. Battery powered TV is popular for long trips and camping. The DA900 TV is an example of a battery-powered TV which has an internal battery, allowing you to recharge the unit from the power adapter. This removes the need to lug batteries around, but removes the option to swap the battery out for a new one. While internal and external battery powered TV do behave differently, they are both suitable for portable TV units and both remain popular into 2024.

How To Get Good TV Signal in a Caravan?

When using our portable TV's for a caravan, please make sure you are aware of signal strength. Many portable aerials are omnidirectional, and to get solid signal in a caravan you may need to upgrade to a direction, high gain aerial. If you do find signal is weak or channels are missing, the TV itself is not the cause but the aerial connected. In this way, if your caravan has a rooftop aerial, even these small TV's will receive and display great picture! You can use tools online to find the bearing to your nearest transmitter, and ensure the aerial is elevated, facing that direction.

Do You Need a TV Licence for A Caravan?

you will need a TV licence to watch any Live broadcast TV, which the DA100 and DA900 do. Therefore you'll need a TV licence at the address you use the product. Now, if your usage is not tied to a registered address, things get more "grey". We would recommend having a TV licence registered at your permanent home address, which will cover you for any caravanning and travel.
