August VGB400 Capture Card AC Input to USB Stick Output with HDMI Passthrough
The VGB400 is August's first PC-Free capture card. Capture video without a PC! No computer or laptop is needed, this capture card is entirely self-contained.
Plug in an AV / RCA audio-video IN and use your choice of USB or Micro SD storage to record the footage in real time direct to digital. VHS to digital is more streamlined with no need for driver downloads and installations.
If you want to view the recording in real time you may connect your TV by your own HDMI cable to the VGB400, watching your VCR or Camcorder through your modern HDMI TV.
By connecting the SCART (Red, White and Yellow) cables into the VGB400 and then using an HDMI cable, the VGB400 functions as a SCART to HDMI adapter. Watch VCR on your HDMI TV with this handy adaptor and recorder.
VHS to USB or Micro SD Converter Box
The VGB400 supports both USB and micro SD card storage. You may use a USB stick, Micro SD card or external drive with USB connection. Your chosen storage unit plugs directly into the small black box, which receives video footage from the AV / RCA in ports.
Please Note. USB storage must be under 64GB capacity in order to work with the VGB400.
By pressing the record button the VGB400 will begin recording the video on to the USB or Micro SD! Save cassettes and VHS tapes without a computer.

The VGB400 is highly compatible:

1 x RCA Audio-Visual Input Ports (White, Red, Yellow Cables)
-
1 x HDMI Output Port (To view the footage as it records)

Digitise VHS Your Way
Use your own SD cards and USB sticks to create organised, shareable files of all your favourite VHS and Camcorder moments.
Please Note. USB sticks and drives must be formatted to NTFS for best results. The VGB400 is incompatible with exFAT formats. If you are unsure, please refer to the manufacturer of your USB drive.
You can choose to watch the recording in real time by supplying your TV / monitor HDMI cable (Not included) and having the footage bypass on to the screen. Watch VHS on a Smart TV as you record it with the VGB400!
High Quality MP4 Files
The VGB400 converts VHS to digital MP4 files which are put straight onto the USB or SD Card. MP4 files are a modern standard of audio-visual file which can be emailed, uploaded to social media, saved easily in folders and even manipulated in editing software. If you want to turn your VHS tapes into Facebook Reels or YouTube Shorts, you can do that! Or just organise your footage and save it for future generations on USB.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need My Own HDMI Cable?
If you wish to view your footage on a TV or monitor as your record, you must supply your own HDMI connection. However, it is possible to record without the HDMI connected but be aware you will not be able to see the recording unless your connected player has a display (For example, a camcorder)
How Do I Know It's Recording?
There is a Recording Status LED as well as a Power LED. Please ensure the device has power and then monitor the Recording Status LED to check it is recording.
How do I change between SD Card and USB stick?
Please never connect and SD card and USB simultaneously. This will ensure the device records to the correct storage solution and avoids corruption of your drive.
